Well, I broke down and bought a spot welder (110 v.) from Hf and got the reconfigured lower arm for it. Thought I was ready to weld my rails in for a new build I am working on, even did some test welds on a couple of thin washers out of curiosity.
I've spent the better part of an hour trying to spot weld them in. I got one in (I think) the other one refuses to be welded. It gets hot but does not the white hot spot for welding. I've stick welded for amost 50 years and mig welded for over 30 yrs. This has been the most frustrating thing I've done in awhile. I am almost ready to get the gas torch out and gas weld them in.
I'll get off my soap box, any suggestions on what's going on here? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for the help.
