I got a nice clean mag today at a gun show for $10.

It has the number 22 stamped on the spine.

Where did come from?

Isn't "22" also a Polish factory, or am I thinking ammo?
A Romanian factory was assigned the number 22. Not sure what city.

Polish factory code is almost always 11. While i'm sure there are others, I don't know of another factory code. The 11 was assigned to the Radom factory.

Ammo is somewhat more varied. Polish ammo has been or is currently marked one of the following:

21
234
343
54
DZ
F
kam
Mesko
N
Pae
pk
wf- this was during german occupation

I suppose you might see some crossover between ammo and metal stamping. I have a polish mag with the "N" marking, but most gun making took place at Radom (11)

Is the "22" in an oval??

thanks - Tom
I have never seen or heard of an oval 22 on a mag rib, However, anyway you see it, 22 is, or should Romy on mags or ammo. By saying that, I have never seen it used by any other country. And if the Warsaw pact conventions were followed, this should hold true. Any exception will come from somewhere not subject to the Warsaw pact.

Keep in mind though, there was rumored to be one unknown PRC ammo factory using 221, but I have never see any such headstamped ammo.
