Where can I get this ferrule?

Is there somewhere I could be looking for this lower handguard ferrule? This is a kit from Apex, a 1960 Polish, it came without the ferrule. Does it use the same handguard as any other milled rifles? It looks considerably different than the Yugo ferrule.

Sadly you will need to find another lower hand guard that has one on it already. Keep an eye on the marketplace one should pop up for sale

I don't know if they will fit, but I found some on Kvar's website. They are brand new unissued "East German" ferrules, only they call them "reinforcement ring for lower hand guard" or something like that. Just go to the parts section, scroll down to lower hand guards, and then about halfway down that page you will see them for only $9 something apiece. I just ordered two myself, hoping that they would fit on my Bulgarian parts kit build.

Thanks seaweed, I'll check that out. Bob

I hope they work, because I too ordered one. I did make a mistake though. They are on the second page of the hand guard section about halfway down.

KVAR's got a bad habit of using the wrong photos in their listings so I don't know what you're going to receive from them but I'm pretty sure the ferrule pictured on their site is for an RPK lower handguard, which would not fit the Polish AK lower hndguard.

An East German MPiK ferrule would fit, and it looks like this:

Richard it looks fairly similar to me. Although the one on your picture appears to be tapered slightly, this one is at a bad angle but appears to be straight sided.

BR7.62, I know you sell parts from time to time because I have bought from you before. Do you have the one I need for sale?

Going by that photo on the KVAR site, it's the wrong part. As I said, they often use the wrong pictures so maybe you'll get something else.

It's not only the taper on the sides that's different; an RPK lower HG ferrule is too big for a milled AK rifle lower.

That's an RPK on the left and a Hungarian AK-55 on the right (interchangeable with Polish, Soviet, Bulgarian, DDR, etc.):

Richard,

Thanks man, I see the difference. I guess I may have wasted my money on the East German one from K-var. We'll see. But I did get a recommendation to buy a brand new unissued Polish lower hand guard from RTG and it has a ferrule on it in the picture. I ordered one of those as well. Here is the link:

Thanks seaweed. I didn't know they had those. I just paid to have one shipped from Poland.
