 my bad for not contacting you about the pictures... i had so much information and files all over my desktop and was working to get it all together for this...

regarding cugir... most of that factory information came from some posts on other forums by DStorm1911 whos uncle worked at Sadu around the revolution time and continues to take trips there to the factories. he had a lengthy post that went through every factory producing anything military related in romania and this post was copied and pasted in more then a few different forums. i took this and some other related posts and website info i found around the web and compiled my own little list of AK specific factories... This is the part of the guide that drove me the most nuts and in the back of my head still does, because its really still unverified information and the whole thing is very confusing. My thought was that since the formation of ratmil (which is in cugir), they were the ones showing off the hardware at the trade shows but the rifles and such were still being produced at sadu... all three cugir websites have no indication of any sort of AK style small arms, only ammunition and other machined goods... if you have any more information on this, PLEASE elaborate!

Arms.home.ro is Cugir's website.

The company seems to have split; One side in Cugir still makes small arms..

No worries on the pics.

Rayman-I did credit a "friend" later in that post..:)

i had a g kit where the arrow was upside down. never figured that one out.
Maybe your "G" rifle was finished after a long 3 day Romanian holiday weekend and the armorer doing the last finishing touches was still feeling it's effects.

i think the reason behind the "no-arrow" g rifles is that the romanias most likely were just taking ever rifle they could find for conversion for the guard and that probably included some that were waiting in overstock to be exported... just a guess...

the upside down arrow... i have NO friggin clue on that! I would love to see a pic if you have one though!!

stottman: holy crap, now i see all the military rifles in cugirs site! why i didnt come across that section before, i dont know. ill see what kind of info i can dig up and add something to that section of the guide with the next update

in regards to cugirs site, WTFFFF is this thing?!?!?:

they label it as "7.62 mm ASSAULT RIFLE Md. 65"
if thats a 7.62 mag, they must have invented a shrink-machine in that factory too!!!!

it already is a sticky ;)

anyways, update coming this weekend with the 5.45 mag info and some more bayonet stuff, nothing major...

I MAY have a contact that has recently worked in the Cugir factory that could be willing to answer some questions about AK production there but im awaiting a response from the person who is acting as the middle man right now... hopefully all goes as planned and we can get some more information straight from the source!
