Spring-loaded vs free-floating firing pins

Is one type generally considered superior to the other?

Also, are the types interchangeable on Chinese bolts, ie, can a spring-loaded pin be readily installed (ie, drop-in) on a bolt that came with a free-floating pin originally, and vice versa? Does anyone here have experience with this?

Right now, it looks like Polytech USA only stocks the spring-loaded type.

Lastly, how durable is the firing pin spring? At what approx round count is it recommended to replace, if ever?

Thank you!

If it will work fine without one I wouldn't add to the risk of failure by adding one.

Personal experience here - Rem. 742 in 30.06. At the range one day. Bang, click, click. First "dud" had a small primer indent, second "dud" had no primer indent. Tried them again, no additional marks. Put it in the gun case and shot other stuff.

Got it home. You have to remove the fore end, barrel, op rod and trigger assembly to get the bolt out. Took the bolt apart and about 4 or 5 coils on the front end of the firing pin return spring had broken off, turned sideways and jammed the firing pin up good and tight in the firing pin channel inside the bolt.
