Bought a DDI milled ak from Atlantic Firearms and had to send it back to DDI for warranty repairs. One of the problems was the lower hand guard retainer would not lock securely to the barrel.
You could turn the rifle upside down and the lever would fall open. You could also wiggle the retainer in every direction a little bit when it was locked. The hand guard had movement in every direction and could be pulled away from the receiver about a quarter of an inch.
I just got the rifle back and they said they replaced the barrel to fix it. The fore and aft play is gone but the retainer still does not lock securely to the barrel cause the hand guard to move up and down and rotate a little.
Atlantic is trying to tell me this is not a concern. I'm afraid to oinstall my expensive NOS wood furniture and have it damaged by a lose retainer is that possible?
How could I fix this?
