Depends a little on condition and options but yes $800 could be a good deal. Not sure what that stock is though.

I had a DR200 a couple of years ago and foolishly sold it. I think I paid $850 for one with an aftermarket ACE stock but without a rail in very good condition.

Also check out riflestocks.com to see what it would cost to put a better/folding stock on it if you're into that sort of thing and it's allowed where you live.

 

Yeah, I had seen the options for folding stocks available on riflestocks.com. I had seen the stocks before, but didn't realize how expensive they were. I think the one on there may be an ace stock, just without the folding mechanism.

Cosmetically, the rifle seemed to be in good shape, I didn't inspect it too terribly much, because I didn't have the money for it, but if I can sell my pistol I'll have some cash to throw at it.

I can only add to your first part, and the answer is most likely yes, that is a barrel shroud :wink: . Same deal with M1918A1/A2s, they also had barrel shrouds.

 

$500 would definitely be a great deal on one with the pistol grip conversion. But true, if it has the thumbhole stock you certainly need to factor in the relatively high cost of the conversion.

 

There was a Daewoo at the range, on consignment, asking price was $900. It had a fixed skeleton stock, but there was a wire thing at the end of the stock (where your shoulder goes), that flipped up and sat on the top of your shoulder. Was this a mythical "shoulder thing that goes up?"

It helps it sit on your shoulder while you're shooting prone. The Italian BM59 also has it.

 

Okay, I talked to the guy today, and it is a ACE pistol grip conversion on there, which is cool, because I could throw a folding mechanism on if I wanted to. I asked him how firm he was on the price and if he was up for any trades, he said he'd really just prefer cash, since he doesn't really need to sell the gun. He just hasn't shot it in years.

The stock is like this one, except for having the rubber pad on the back, it is just metal, and has a wire shoulder thing that goes up. He sounds like a good old boy, I was trying to joke around with him about the "shoulder thing that goes up," but I don't think he got the joke. :goof:

That stock is a EARLY Ace stock it sounds like . I had one I got from them in 1995 or 96. They were off a F&N rifle I think. I let Will trade me out of it.

Yes and no...you can swap lowers, but you are unlikely to find a K1 lower anywhere!


The stock that particular rifle had is a very early ACE stock- they had the flip up wire shoulder support ala the M249 and M240.

$900 fora converted one is a bit steep IMHO, but if the parts are already there and it is in compliance with 922r it save tryuing to locate an ACE daewoo pistol grip, which are having some production issues right now (subcontracted molding company damaged the mold, and it will be several months before grips are available again.)

 

Cool, I appreciate everyone's input. The guy told me all the FCG stuff had been replaced when the conversion was done, which I've gathered is SOP when you do a pistol grip conversion on one of these.

Like I said, I've been digging these rifles for a few years, and I figure the way things are looking right now, as far as prices, it's probably getting to be a pretty decent time to pick one up, even though they're mostly pre-ban.

Any parts that y'all know of that are susceptible to failure (besides the one's that are interchangeable with AR parts :twisted: ), or is it pretty solid all around?

Get a spare firing pin, if you stumble across a spare bolt is not a bad investment either. :smile:

 

I've seen a K2 for $1100, I'm pretty sure I could get it for around $1000 shipped, it's been hanging out for a while. That's what I really want. But I'd take this one, especially considering it's local and FTF.

 

love my 'woos even tho i considered sellin the DR at one time. with it already converted i think $900 is a fair price, not spectacular but pretty fair for a fine weapon.

Jenson Arms has one but it's over a grand (NIB) with the butthole stock.

That's not a bad idea. It would look a lot better than the AR, with that buffer tube sticking out the back, also. I'm wondering if the wire stock would clear the humps on the side of the DR200 receiver.
