Can anyone tell me anything in the way of a QC report about these? Are they good mags, etc.? Will they fit my Yugo M70? i was considering picking up a few.

I actually just got one from Apex, and I'm having problems with it. I think there's something wrong with the follower, it seems like it is too big. I have to force it just to get it into the bottom of the mag, then it will slide in, but only half-way until it gets stuck again. A screwdriver or something had to b used to get it the rest of the way. I can tell whoever had it prior to me had the same problem because the follower is scratched to hell like someone was jabbing at it with a screwdriver.

I got one recently and it was scratched up and down fairly used. The floor-plate is kinda loose and the lips are kinda off idk on the last round it does something strange but it still feeds. They had the ones in excellent condition they were better.

Well, $35 shipped for a used Romanian 40rd mag, I expected it to be at least functional.
Note: It works fine with a follower from another 40-rd mag. I may need to get another follower.
Do 30rd and 40rd mags use different followers? The 40rd follower form a crappy promag mag I had worked fine in there. However, I tried 2 different followers from 30-rd mags and those got stuck also.

I have some Romanian 40rnd mags that I've used in my AES-10b. They work fine, but like AKBLUE said they're really clumsy things from the shoulder. Using the RPK on its bipod the 40s work fine, but when using it on the bipod I tend to favor using drums instead. I've tried using the 40s on some of my other AKs but they're so long/heavy/etc. that they're just annoying.

I don't mind them, but that's just me. Something about 10 extra rounds in a mag allows me to get over it.

Well Gorilla this is a croatian 30rd bho follower in an really good romanian 40rder. Doesn't work.

The last round is loose as fuck, falls out easy. Wouldn't feed right reliably in a "excellent condition" 40rd body because there is one of the two follower retaining nubs making contact with the follower too early. The "good condition" sf marked one has a follower with a notch ground out so it can put force against the last round and the feed lip and it's not factory.

So if you were to take a 30 rd follower and took a dremel to it I think you could get it to work, but if yours is like mine, then you're gonna have to mess with the mag body. My follower doesn't stick anywhere but the the body by the retaining plate is kinda knurled in so I'd have to do something. The bho follower wont go in this sf mag but it looks like shit, so I'm gonna blame damage.

I like the 40 round mags for the range just because ammo comes in 20 round boxes and I can be an organization freak sometimes so I like 20 and 40 round mags. Maybe pick up one of each and see which you like best and then stock up on those?

2 30rd magazines = 60 rounds. Your organization only goes up to 2x20? 30 rounders are the cheapest too.

I'll usually load up my Romy 40rd mags and shoot my Yugo M92 off shoulder at a steel gong at 200yds. Pisses the people shooting scopes off but I'll usually get a 'not bad for offhand' comment too. I've never had a reliability issue with 40rd mags.

I just want one 20rder for when at a range and to keep loaded for hd. I only really load 5-20 in a mag anyway because its quicker. My 40s ill use out in the desert but ill load everything up for that beforehand.

Well..the Gibbs matras just sucked. Horrible QC and fitment issues.
Aim polish refurbs were OK after stripping paint from top
But this just sucks.
Can anyone confirm if 40rd mags use different followers from 30rd mags?
I ask because other 30s won't work, but one from another 40 worked. But that 40 was a crappy promag with a weird follower.

I cannot confirm, but I seriously doubt the followers on a Romanian 40 round 7.62 mag are different than a 30 round mag - when factory assembled.

Soldiers in the field and bubba handling the mags can change that in short order.

I have had good luck with the Bulgarian 40 round mags I got. They are cumbersome when loaded but being plastic aren't as heavy as the steel euro type. They have the steel reinforced feed lips. mine don't have the bullets on the body like everybody sells now..I guess they are the same quality.
