Ive used 2 methods, both worked well but

1 build up the area with JB weld and re-shape the JB after its cured
2 cut a piece of bicycle inner tube and slip it under the hand guard and cut off any extra that stick out.

How did it work out?

 

I tried to add solder, but it didn't stick. The innertube didn't work either (wouldn't stay in place). The only thing I came up with was I took the spring clip off the front of the wooden handguard that came with the gun, and jammed it in front of the handguard.

Snake, I have cured that problem before by cleanibg the handguard real good then putting a bead of silicone RTV on the front edge of it. That stuff can compress for a good tight fit. If not tight enough, add a little more.

Thanks for the tip. I don't know anything about RTV silicone, but assume it is heat resistant?

OH yea, you can buy the high temp RTV, but I use the regular clear stuff and haven't had any problems.
