I ordered this thing a few weeks ago and it came in about a week ago. I noticed a little line on the bottom that I figured was superficial at first and didn't think much of it. I thought it was just an imperfection or scratch prior to the heat treat and black oxide when they manufactured it. Tonight I got the receiver out of the safe just to do a little dry fitting with the trunnions since I actually had some time to fart around finally. After a investigating it a little further I snapped some pictures. The crack doesn't go all the way through. The bottom is still fine. I'm assuming the heat treat didn't quite go as planned...

I bought it from Atlantic Firearms. I'm not sure if its too late to contact them since I've had it in my possession for a week and some change now.

I've heard good things about Atlantic's customer service so I'm crossing my fingers that the email makes it to the right person. If not then that would be $70 down the drain ($50 for receiver, $20 for xfer)...

If worst comes to worst I guess I could blast it, throw some weld on there and grind it back down, then refinish it. The black oxide is not very resilient anyways. Already started developing some surface tarnishing just from fingerprints.

When I started having issues drilling through these and nds receivers. I stopped buying them. For what two years now I've only built on Childers receivers. That ain't gonna change, they are much easier to work with, look nicer around the wdges and I can drill holes in them with out buying out the drill bits at lowes and ak-builder.

They emailed me back and want to send me a return label to get it replaced. The thing I'm wondering about is having to spend another $20 to xfer (send) it back and another $20 to get the new one for the xfer when the replacement comes in. Anyone have any experience with that? I really didn't want to spend a grand total of $60 on ffl transfer fees for a $50 receiver when its all said and done...

I sent a pistol back to CZ once because they said they wanted to replace the barrel but they just sent me a new gun instead and mailed it directly to me. They said all they had to do was make a note in their logs that it was replaced and I didn't need a new form filled out. I was pretty surprised that they did it that way since I had never heard of doing it like that before.
