This is my second AK, oh man, this Arsenal is nice!

Now I know what all the fuss was about :) Nice to buy an AK with a double stack bolt, polymer furniture, etc right off the shelf. Gave it a cleaning tonight with CLR. Off to the range soon!

Have a question. The gas tube has about a 1/32- 1/16th of an inch play side to side. It seems to be from where the gas tube meets the 90 degree block. I can move it with my hand or if I shake the rifle, hear it rattle. There is no play front to back.

Is this normal?

My Pap M70 has no play in the tube - that's why I noticed this one.

How would you define 'slight?' Enough it rattles if you shake the rifle? I agree about the trigger. This Bulgarian trigger is smoooootth.

You spent the coin for a nice rifle like that, and you stick a crapco mag in it!? For shame, dude.
LOL

That's one of about 20 magazines I have lol. I have 15 milsurp steel mags and 5 Tapco.

As soon as Magpul releases their AK magazines, I'll grab a few of those too

Nice rifle.
I have used Tapco mags for years...there is nothing wrong with them.
3 US parts for 922. If the AK is already compliant, who needs them? But for the price, & their lifetime guarantee, I guess they're OK. GARY

Ran 200 rounds through it yesterday - performed flawlessly. Ran some Tapco mags, military surplus (a few Yugoslavian bolt-hold open) and it ate all of it.

The heat shield on the grip is nice too! I was running through the mags fairly quick and the plastic didn't melt - and it was 95 degrees out. Cleaned up pretty easy too. This is hands my favorite rifle - either that I own or have shot. And that includes a SCAR Heavy, SCAR Light, AR's, Garand, SKS, anything. Love it.

I shot at a steel man-size target. Groups weren't that great, but at 100M 27 of 30 hits were in the chest area. I think with a little more practice I can get the groups tighter.

Yes it does. A few guys I shoot with have or had Arsenal AK's - they said they all did that.

I put another 300 rounds through it Saturday, no issues it all. Fed it FMJ, HP, SP and no failures to feed, eject or anything.

Got another range trip planned this Saturday. Man, I love shooting this AK. I can't get enough.

I've also noticed, the affordability of shooting it is one of the major draws. I'm paying anywhere from $4.50-$5.00 a box locally and when I see XM193 or 855 for my AR at $10-$12, I can't bring myself to buy it. Spending $20-$23 per box for my .45 ACP? Eh, I'll pass.

The 7.62x39 price point has definitely changed me lol

I did have another side question, more about practicality than anything. So I've read - and my manual states - this rifle was sighted at Arsenal with their laser bore process. I've put 600 rounds through it. Shooting a 30 round mag at a 10"x10" target, I can put all 30 on paper at 100M. I'd say the majority of them are within a 5"-6" group. The reason I've focused on 100M is that I doubt I'd have any life or death encounter beyond that living a major urban area.

Now, I didn't buy this rifle for competition shooting - nor do I expect this platform to provide 1" groups at 100M, 200M or 300M. I bought it because 1) I loved it and 2) for a SHTF/defend my life scenario. Am I wrong in thinking hitting a 10"x10" target is sufficient at 100-200M? I'm not an expert rifleman by any means, so I know through practice I can probably get that group tighter.

But in a SHTF scenario, I won't be sitting on a nice chair, with my gun wresting, breathing nice and smooth without a care in the world. My goal is to hit a chest-size target.

Put some more rounds through it this weekend. I'm finding that it shoots slightly high and left - maybe 5" in both directions. I thought maybe it was me, but I've had three other people shoot it and same results are produced.

I'm going to get a site tool and make some small adjustments to it this weekend. I feel it's combat accurate, but I'd like to get it a tad bit tighter.

Made some adjustments this weekend. Windage was off, now I've got it dialed in that way. Elevation may be just a tad high, but I was grouping them nicely.

Now my front site post isn't centered, which bothers me, but I think I'll get over it. I find it hard to believe Arsenal laser bore sighted this thing. It's not a big deal, but they do claim it is done.
