Do the barrels come with gas ports already drilled or not? I got mine from Arms of America and I have just noticed no gas port pre-drilled...

Pretty sure the barrels are virgin. You have to drill the gas port and cut all the slots for the front sight, handguard retainer, etc, and thread the barrel. Ak-builder was offering one with threaded with the handguard retainer, but those are sold out.

Anyone did a comparison of the Childers finished Polish receiver with an actual military Polish stub? Weld patterns, markings, hardness, finish etc? I am awfully curious.
The Childers receiver my underfolder was built on is an early one and the spot welds are small and more similar to some Chinese pre-bans I've seen. I bought another one last year and it has much larger spot welds that are oversize compared to anything I've seen on a stub or pictures of complete rifles. I'd take pics of the new one VS the old but Two Rivers Arms has the new one right now.

It's kinda close. I'm really observant though, magwell dimples are not the Same but none of the other options are. The font for the selectors is correct for most years and looks better than engraving the markings. The spot welds are close.

A lot of people don't understand that if you take a sample of receivers from 1965 to 1990 somewhere along that line your going to find a font that matches and spotwelds that match. These things are not an exact science. The tips on the spot welders change over time then they sharpen them and they are smaller and the process restarts.

Same with the selector marks. There is at least three to four different fonts that I have noticed on polish alone.

The Izhmash Guns and Molot guns were pretty consistent, with using the same characters on for instance all the AKM's but the stamps were replaced at times. Same with the AK74's, as with the RPK, and RPK74
