I was asked by a couple of members to post the mod for BDM's to perform properly so here is what worked for me. Start by disassembly of magazine. Remove follower. Measure down 1/16 of an inch from the top rear of follower and scribe a line across the rear aspect of the follower. Now use a small straight edge and scribe a mark from your first mark across the back of the follower to the front top tip of the follower. Make this mark on both sides of the follower. This will leave a wedge shaped mark on the sides of your follower. Using a flat file, file the follower down to the scribed line. You will remove more material towards the back to nothing on the front. What this does is change the angle of the round leaving the mag and allow the round to enter the chamber instead of impacting the chamber face. Each weapon is different so start by removing the described amount and test in you weapon, if more material needs to be removed proceed in small increments. I also use the file to smooth all the sharp edges of the follower to allow for smoother movement of the new follower in the mag body. Sorry I have no pics but I hope this helps

I got two 29 round black Dog Magazines today. They both fire round points well but they don't like the Winchester hollow points. Most of the time they catch just below the chamber. I have a feeling that the round points are just marginally going in too. I be clear before I start filing , I want to take material off of the follower on the back to get the bullet to come out at a steeper angle to enter the chamber. Am I correct in assuming that I'm going to take material off of the red follower where it contacts the rounds not where the follower contacts the inside of the magazine. Sorry if I sound stupid, probably am, but I just want to be sure.

Correct, remove material from the rear top of the follower. This will drop the rear of the round down slightly and raise the tip of the round up slightly. Beveling the bottom of the chamber face will also help the hollow points feed more reliably, I believe there is a recent post with pics on how to perform the beveling.

To bevel the lower edge of the chamber face you can use a dremel with an abrasive bit or you can also use a chainsaw file. I have used both and like the chainsaw file better. I bent the bottom 1.5 inches of the file to make it look something like a hockey stick. Strip recoil spring and bolt from receiver. Now with the file bent I inserted the file through the bottom of the receiver through the mag hole. Visualize the chamber face as a clock, you want to bevel the chamber face from five on the clock to seven on the clock. File off some material, polish with valve grinding compound, reassemble and test with hollow points. Continue this process until reliable chambering is achieved. Hope this helps! :animak:

Cut the rear of my Black Dog follower by maybe 1/16" to match the geometry of the factory mag follower... which is not flat but has a slight cant starting about 1/3 way from the front to move the point of the round upward. The mag now feeds very well, previously it FTF with the nose hung up below the chamber every few rounds. Since modding no failures after 100 rounds, looking forward to more the next time.
