I'm re-reading the book. It is interesting especially the Chechen war chapters. It is full of aks and other russian weaponry. I think it would make a good movie. I first saw Aquil on an episode of "World's Most Dangerous Places" on the Discovery channel about seven years ago. The footage of him shooting up cars with an AK in the desert is pretty cool. I went out and bought my first AK after I saw it.

Hah, crazy. I remember talking to him on either Gunsnet or AK-47.net and through e-mail looong ago. Nice to see he's out, I had no idea.

I first heard of him summer of 2002 (I believe) while on a trip to New York. I was watching the Travel Channel and I recognized Robert Young Pelton's face on the TV, who's books I'm a huge fan of. He covered this guy Aqil briefly and I found it interesting. Then on Robert's website I saw that Aqil had written and published a book which I thought was a fantastic read. Not intellectual or very complex at all, just a raw and honest depiction of what he went through. If you enjoy combat reading I strongly suggest you check it out.
