ive actually thought about doing that but once i thought about it wouldnt the stock once collapsed interfere with the selector lever on the side. that was the only drawback i could think of actually buying one to see

Yes it would .. I was hoping that someone was able to work out a solution to that problem. The only thing that I was able to think of was a custom selector lever that was able to slide underneath the legs of the stock. Something like a M92 lever with just the lower tab. That way it should be able to slide underneath.

 

I have seen it but did not save the pic. It looked pretty clunky to be honest and kind buggared the whole profile of the rifle. Seemed impractical to me. Saw it maybe a year or so ago. I think it was a prototype from a fabricator/seller.

 

Thought I saw something like it before. I would make up a left hand safety, probably Galil style, add an FAL type left hand charging handle, cut off the original charging handle and close up the charging handle slot in the top cover. I think a rifle set up like that with an HK style collapsing stock would be pretty bad ass.

HK retractable stock is the most GAWD-AWFUL uncomfortable stock EVER DEVISED!!! I own several and even the MP5 ergonomics SUCK!!! Do yourself a favor and mod something else to the AK....a cattle prod or ball of razor wire would be MORE COMFORTABLE!!!!! :wink:

I own meat tenderizer mallets that have a LESS agressive "tooth" pattern than these things!!!! ONLY the germans would engineer something so BRUTAL and butt ass ugly! :doh:

I don't think the HK retractable stock is the worst ever devised. I would give that honor to the Reising Model 55.

That said I do think they are awful stocks.

Optics and the retractable stock are a bad mix as well.

I have mixed feelings about the classic HK rifles. They are fantastically reliable (AK reliable) and shoot very well. The ergos on the other hand are not the best, and that can be a drag for things like fast mag changes.

There ya go. That is the one I recall seeing from a retailer. Not attractive or very functional looking IMHO.
