I'm in the works of making my own ak 47. I want to make it the best I can as far as performance and accuracy. I found something about an adjustable gas block. What does it work like they say it does. Any info on it would be nice.

all the adjustable gas blocks do is allow you to regulate the amount of gas used to cycle the rifle. So you can "tune" the rifle for different loads.

Personally, I don't see a whole lot of reason on your standard AK for something like this. Most all 7.62x39 will run in an AK. NOW, a PSL, SVD, or some other similar kind of 'designated marksman' type rifle where you might reload for accuracy, OR where there are multiple types of ammo available, sure, I can see the advantage.

Will have to agree with Clay. I have one on an AR carbine build with DI. Allows me to tune to the round and actually decreases felt recoil, but still allows the rifle to run properly. Don't really see the efficacy in a gas piston system, unless, as mentioned before, in rifle used for the DM role.

I'm using one on my 5.56 build so if need be I can shoot the lower pressure tula ammo.
I'm using one on my 7.62x39 pistol build to regulate recoil, because a lot of the hellpups suffered either over gassing or under gassing.
Other then that only if you plan on using rifle grenades, or are ocd, no practical reason to offset the cost on a standard ak build.
The only ones available are the Dez Arms, they are really ugly boxy looking, Impossible to find used, Dez is out of stock on them, they sell for $100 + shipping from them, I'm still trying to find a couple myself, there was a guy on one of the boards converting Yugo m70 grenade gas blocks, but I'm not sure about the journal size fitting a .590 barrel?
