Short and sweet: Pertaining to the M70; Does having the Zastava scope-mount allow for enough clearence to still remove the dust-cover while having it on? Or must you remove the mount in order to remove the cover? Im DYING to see a video demonstration if so. Here is the mount in question:

I don't have one myself but based on the design I'm 99% sure that it has to be removed in order to remove the dust cover. If it's a quality mount, it should return to zero.

You should also consider the AK Master Mount Optic Mount. I have not found a better mount. Just be sure to choose the correct version for a Yugo AK.

This is what Im lead to believe. Even though AK's are the best design, I can do it better. That being said, the current year is no longer 1947, or whenever the Serbs got ahold. My Aim is to modernize the shit out of this thing to the best of my modern abilities. Im glad to have a Zastava as my starting point. These Serbs are bad-ass!

I've never seen one for a Yugo rifle, but I have seen them for other AK's. Looking at them, the cheek weld would be nonexistent. I think that you'd lose far more accuracy from that than you would from removing and reinstalling the scope.

Any specific model? And how so? Is it a two-piece?
Nevermind. I looked it up. It turns out to be a two piece. The only problem is that Ill have to do screwing everytime I wana take off the duscover. Which not only is time consuming and requires a screw driver. But it will definitely lose zero. I swear my best bet is the Attero Arms railed sight leaf. The only drawback is a slightly awkward cleaning of the front trunnion. Considering that I would only clean in a safe environment, Ill take it. I just hope it holds zero.

GunSlangerFanger, NATO has mandated all new NATO accepted weapon variants must have a standardized top rail optic mount. Two mount designs are available a removable side mount, and a top cover mount. Here is the Zastava M05E3 with the top cover mounted rail, and folding stock. Only problem is to my knowlage they are not available in the US. The importers just keep bringing in the same old antiquated options.

Personally I would rather the removable side mount over the rear sight leaf rail. A good mount should easily hold zero whith repeated removal/install. Plus holding zero is relative to the usage, if it all lands in the 1/3 siloet, thats all that's needed.

No, once you attach the top to the bottom mount you're golden ,you only then need to remove the mount from the side rail. Slides on and off and holds zero. Never an issue with mine. Dust cover slides on and off no problem with mount still on rifle. No need to remove the scope mount to remove the dust cover. I have both the RSRegulate and the Attero Bravo

I still recommend going with the AK Master Mount. I received mine for my M90 today and it's a work of art. It's super tight and will hold zero just like the ones I have for other AK's. It allows for a good cheek weld to the stock and proper eye relief which will help accuracy significantly more than a sight leaf mount. It will sport a 3x24 ACOG as soon as it arrives next week.

Check out this optic mounting system for AK’s,
They have many options depending on which optics you are using.
It’s way better than any side mount and it allows the dust cover removal without interference!

FYI, I’m not associated with them, just love their products!
