Women sense my power and they seek the life essence. I do not avoid women, Mandrake.

But I do deny them my essence.

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. Peter Sellers playing three roles and the entire movie is a hoot. Watch it and laugh.

I think anyone who served in the USAF during the Col War would "get it" than someone who didn't...

I thought George C. Scott was brilliant!

I had seen this movie several times before I realized Sellers also played the President. I had read someplace that when this movie was released, that a few critics missed this to.
Its one of my favorite movies of all time.

When the Army unit is assaulting the Air Force base, there are a few scenes of combat that look like stock footage to me. One Soldier looks to be shooting an MP40, or possibly an STG44. Has anyone else ever noticed this?

Would not doubt it. My understanding is that the whole movie was filmed in England on one studio lot. That some of the exterior scenes for "Burpleson AFB" was actually the studio lot buildings. So it would not surprise me if they used canned incorrect footage for the soldiers.

Survival kit contents check. In them you'll find: one forty-five caliber automatic; two boxes of ammunition; four days' concentrated emergency rations; one drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills; one miniature combination Russian phrase book and Bible; one hundred dollars in rubles; one hundred dollars in gold; nine packs of chewing gum; one issue of prophylactics; three lipsticks; three pair of nylon stockings.

Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff.

Awesome movie!!!!!

Col "Bat" Guano was a bad ass.

Peter Sellers was involved in a lot of memorable comedies. Notably Casino Royale, and the Pink Panther series, but Dr Strangelove was, in my opinion, on another level.

The only dubbed over portion in the entire movie. Originally Kong (Pickens) said a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Dallas with all that stuff; but between the film's completion and it's release, the JFK assassination occurred so the line was changed due to the sensitivity of that event. You can see he doesn't say the same word.

Another cool fact was that Sellers was originally cast to play Kong as well, but an accident during filming caused him to be replaced by Slim Pickens. Apparently much of Pickens' acting was done impromptu and left it because it added so much to his character...

The cockpit for the B-52 was still highly sensitive when the movie was made, and details were not available to the public. The one for the set was built off a single picture from a British flying magazine and was extremely accurate. There were concerns that its accuracy might cause the Feds to investigate the producers to find out how they reconstructed it so well.

You can see the shadow of the Boeing B-17G used to film some of the flying sequences.

It was also James Earl Jones' film debut!

If you don't already own the DVD version of the film, buy it. The extras are worth the money.

Cheers! M2
