A while back I had a thread about which .223 would you choose between the Colt 6920, V93, and the V53....

Without being limited to the above 3 choices, which 5.56/.223 battle rifles would you guys choose and why?

Thanks.

Are we looking at collectable rifles or hard use carbines?

Hard use:
1) ADC gas piston upper with a top quality lower

2) Noveske Crusader http://noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin/im ... e=&status=

3) Colt 6920

Collectable:
1) IMI Galil AR (not the ARM, too damn heavy)

2) Colt 6920

3) HK 93A2

Due to the availability of parts/mags, my number one choice would have to be an AR variant. Noveske, Sabre, Colt, S&W... would prefer a carbine with mid length gas system... Noveske N4 Recce or LP.

Hard use capable is the only requirment.

Out of curiosity, why would the HK 93A2 not be on the hard use list?

Because the ergonomics absolutely suck compared to a M4 type, mags are expensive, it's heavy for the caliber it fires, and it's a pain in the ass to clean. Also, unless you get a couple pristine Malaysian issued parts kits, replacement parts are going to be a pain in the ass.

Rails and mounts are available from Brugger & Tomet via DSA for the HK series.

And yes, I meant HK 93.....not the Vector. The Vectors can be fine carbines, but the receivers aren't always in spec and I've seen a few with issues that aren't acceptable to me.

why hasn't anyone mentioned a 5.56 AK??
Any of my 5.56 AKs (maybe not the SAR3) are battle ready hard use.
Yeah people complain about them being reliable, but once you got one that can run, it always runs.
Unlike my 5.56 10.5 inch AR, I have fired 500 rounds out of my Saiga Krink conversion with NO issues
My 10.5 inch AR took a while to work out the bugs (crap in the chamber) but it now runs 100%
On the other hand, my Colt Match Hbar (circa 93) has NEVER let me down.

I didn't mean to start a AK vs AR war so Don't go there

I really like the Sig 556 even with all of its tacticool lameness. Swiss engineering is something to behold.

My brother had an HK33 clone (HK33 kit on a Special Weapons receiver) and it was NICE, but I agree with Templar. The ergonomics SUCK compared to the M4.

How about a Daewoo.... I mean if you had some spare parts for it.

AK gas system, readily available AR mags (yeah, I know AR mags aren't the most durable)

The Sigs don't do a thing for me. I'd take a nice M4 any day.
