After the AK47 I guess. What would be the rifle most opposite the AR15?

HK varieties
Uzi
Skorpion

Pretty much anything commonly associated with the opposite side - good, bad, or indifferent.

The original Remington rolling block rifle.
You can't get more "opposite" in a metallic cartridge rifle.

Ditto. haha.

However if you're meaning "comparable" type guns I'd have to go FAL in .308. The largest caliber standard issue rifle in any numbers and very reliable.

You could make a case for the M1/M14 Garand in some ways (and maybe the FN-49) from a production standpoint. These are the last mass-issue rifles I know of that were built to the "old world" standard.
The M1/FN-49 were heavy, built to last generations, and very expensive to produce. The AR is lightly built, expendable, and cheap to produce. Even the AK, while not "lightly built," was a modern weapon from the perspective of mass production, and was intended to be expendable.
Rifles like the FAL/G3 were also much more modern weapons from a production standpoint than the M1.

Have to go with Russia's response to the "Stoner" rifle and round. The AK-74 and 5.45x39 cartridge

51-RA..Ha.. That has to look like a 180 out Tavor something or another
