I have the .308, but I guess to convert any SAIGA front end........you have to turn the barrel, new gas block, retaining plate, and what else to get usual style front end? Thanks

I was going to add a typical handguard retainer & handguards, but could find a large enough retainer to avoid turning the barrel way down. So, I left it alone, but added a US made FSB/GB. OAL of barrel is 16.1" with premanently attached flash hider.

Here it is assembled.

Where did you buy the front sight-gas block?
I'm starting to like the forend.
Rifle looks solid and beefy, sort of like a short barreled shotgun.

did they say if they would be putting that FSB/GB back into production? that looks like it would be great to make a Romy AIR clone that i have been thinking about.

Wow, that looks good.

You could probably use one of these from Kvar. Cut off the threaded portion on the front, if you didn't want to use it krink style. I just ordered one for a 5.56 project I'm building.

I opted the quick and simple way of cut and weld instead of pushing off and replacing the gas block. Unless you are trying to replicate something specfic, its a lot easier and quicker.
