Hello everyone. I recently got a beautiful Wbp jack that I’m extremely happy with. The only thing I’ve noticed is that it seems to be very picky of magazines. So far I have tried modern steel polish and Bulgarian magazines. I can’t even attempt to rock them in as it seems they’re too big. I’m kind of a noob with aks. Has anybody else had this problem? She’ll accept US palm mags with no problem whatsoever.

Welcome to the forum. There's a wealth of knowledge here, so don't hesitate to ask questions. Your rifle should take pretty much any quality 7.62x39 magazine. If it won't, then it's likely that they didn't do a proper job of opening up the magazine well after they brought it in to the US. Try a few more 7.62x39 magazines of military manufacture (not commercial like US Palm). If they won't fit or have trouble, then I'd send it back for repair. You can modify the magazines to fit, but keeping track of which magazines fit in which gun is undesirable.

Thanks for the response. I’ve got some Romanian surplus on the way. If those don’t fit then I’m going to most likely send it back.

I have a WBP Jack and mine has not had any issue with fitment of multiple mags. I have polymer Polish mags, surplus steel Romanian mags, surplus steel Chinese mags as well as the US Palm mag that came with the rifle. All fit fine and function. Good advice from @Bret. I have other mags that I can’t find at the moment but I’m pretty confident they will fit fine as well. I bought my Jack from AoA and I know they will take care of any issue.

I got mine from AOA as well. I honestly think I just got a bad batch, the mag well cut doesn’t look as good as my other rifles. I’m most likely going to send it back under the warranty. Hopefully it’ll get resolved in a decent amount of time. I emailed them today.

They will take care of you. My experience with them has been good with warranty work.

That’s good to hear. I’m already very happy with the rifle even with the mag well deficiency. I can only imagine I’ll be a very happy camper once that’s sorted out.

I remember when polymer mags like tapcos ran on the larger end of spec, surplus ribbed mags would always have more play than those.
