I would like to find out how difficult it would be to modify a monster man grip (yeah I know, why? becauase I live in commifornia) to fit a vz58. are ak pgs interchangable with vz58 pg's?

Thanks

The only thing that is directly interchangeable between Vz58s and Kalashnikovs are the cartridge it uses . . .
They can be made to work. I have seen it done on 2 of them. A CAA grip can be made to work I know.
Problem is that I live in commifornia so at this point my only choice is the modify a monster man grip to fit the vz or make my own that is NOT a pistol grip. I am looking for any input on those who may own both weapons with ideas on how I can MAKE it happen.

Move?
ChillyWilly, the Monsterman grip is a for a featureless build per SB23. The only reason you would want to do a featureless build is:

1. You want to use magazines that are preban (2000) that you owned before 2000. That would be 30rds.

2. You really want to use a flash hider instead of a brake.

It is difficult to say when VZ58 kits (parts, mags etc.) started coming into the US. I asked in the answer was after 2000. So it would be hard to say you owned VZ58 magazines before 2000.

Use cut down 10rd mags or go to CALGUNS.Net and figure out how to modify the 30rd mags to 10 without cutting them. It is legal for someone to ship you a magazine "kit" which has all the parts for 30rd mag including the body.

Many out of state vendors sell 20 and 30 rd mag rebuild kits for people to repair their existing mags. Repair can include replacing ALL the parts.

It must be disassembled and sold as a kit when shipped. You may be able to find someone who will do that. Get the mag, modify it, but do not assemble a 30rd that was aquired after 2000 because you will be commiting a felony.

yes, only if you remove the VZ retaining pg plate .

I want to use the mmg because I want the mag to be detacable and as far as I know there is no bullet button yet for the vz58

It will be easier to come up with mag lock than deal with all the other stuff.

There are a couple ideas in this thread

The Vz58 has a built-in stripper clip guide, unlike the Kalashnikov.

Just permanently attach the mag and use strippers.. .. ..
WTF is a "bullet button"?

It's a California legal mag release.

Instead of using your finger to actuate it, you use a bullet ( a tool, in other words ).

Since you can't use your finger to release the mag, they consider this a "permanent attachment' of the mag.

<Glad I'm not living in Kalifornia>
The more I read about CA regulations, the more I feel sorry for CA guys ....
One of those ridiculous laws we have to put up with. Hopefully with the pro-2nd ammendment advocates finally on the offensive here, these silly laws will be overturned.

Here is an example of what you can get for AR's and AK's.

Fortunately, I owned many mags before the ban.

I hear ya. Hope it doesn't spill over into your state.
I am in Indiana, a farm state and Republican stronghold. No worries ...

How difficult would it be to permantly attach?
just replce the mag catch spring with a pin when you install it.
sks strippers are kind of sloppy you would want to get some vz52 strippers.
