Sooooooo close to being ready for prime time.

VZ-304
The best way to put optics on your VZ.58 rifle. Fully compatible with all AK-300 modular upper optic mounts. Here the VZ-304 is paired with an AKM and Aimpoint PRO optic for optimum red dot duty.
VZ-304 weighs 3 ounces and attaches to any VZ.58 side rail in seconds, returns to zero after removal and requires no permanent or temporary modifications to the combat proven parts of the VZ.58.

Available from Brownells shortly, and the RS Amazon web store in time for Black Friday weekend.

I have a question about the side rail ,Do you find it to be just as steady as the rails that are on the AK receivers ?

Very interesting! That looks like an awesome solution for red dots or very short scopes.

Why only a rear-biased base? Is that because putting a scope over the top of the front half of the VZ-58 receiver would interfere with ejection and thus doesn't make any sense? What about a left-offset upper mount that would place a scope low and just far enough left to avoid impeding ejection; would that even work on the VZ-58?

I wonder, are there any existing straight, non-offset scope rings that will attach directly to the rail of your AK-303, AK-310, etc. bases? That would let someone experiment with an (unfortunately quite dramatically) left-offset optic to see if it's even worth considering.
