I visited the Khyber Pass a coupe months ago. I have some images of the rifles here and some video footage of a couple shops and images on my youtube channel and instagram page: ABKTheReal. As I was in a hurry, I did not get the best footage or images.

is that a milled ak74?
More or less, yes. It is a mashup of various AK designs with T2/3 looking parts and chambered in 5.45x39.

Its cool that you got what you got though on your timeframe.

That milled 74 im glad you got a pic of. It's a interesting rifle. I've seen milled 74s before but that one is different. The FSB on it looks chinese or off of a milled rifle. We all know milled and chinese rifles have a heavy barrel. That milled 74 looks to have a heavy barrel also. Interesting because I've never seen any 74 with a heavy milled profile barrel. Really puts it in perspective on what those kyber gunsmiths are doing over there.

Yeah mate. I have been looking over some AKs and it looks most like a chinese 7.62 milled copy chambered for 5.45. It does have some type 2/3 features so you kinda get confused.

Here are some Khyber mags and one used Soviet-Afghan bakelite. The first 2, I was sent today and the 3rd is from my visit.

The Tokarev is probably a copy. The other pistol in the background is a Turkish Zigana pistol, also probably a copy.

Rarely. I had to use a lot of persuasion to get as far as I did, not sure if anyone can visit yet. I hope to be able to go further around the area on my next visit to the country.

Why is that? For your safety? Or to prevent you from seeing/doing something?

I went to visit the area. As it can be dangerous for foreigners, I had to persuade certain people there to accompany me and escort me through the tribal areas otherwise I could not have visited.

Behind the reins of a POF DSHK in 12.7x108mm kitted out as an Anti-Aircraft/Helicopter gun. Not a Khyber but still from the region.
