Looking to do this......it has the quarter circular cuts on the rear bottom of the receiver for the thumbhole stock I want to ditch for regular stock...any way to fill this in with 1mm peices welded on it to make a regular box end receiver to have a clean end for regular stock?

I guess you have to take your time and tack it slowly as to prevent warping? too much trouble?

I would suggest you find a demilled 74 rear section. There should be a few floating around. Yes this job SUCKS!! I've done a couple and I hate it. It isn't as bad as converting a chi-com folder to full stock though. Good Luck!!

In range has got it figured out. Too bad I butcher all my rear sections, it makes it easier. Just make sure you don't try a 100% butt weld. Its alot easier to make a nice clean and solid weld with at least a 1/16th gap.

After time, money and aggravation, it is cheaper to sell the rifle as is and apply it towards a SAR or other rifle with a standard receiver.
