I'm trying to build a "clone" of a mid-production Type 2, maybe a '53 or '54 production rifle. The Type 2s were subject to a lot of changes, going from Type 1 style parts early on to almost all Type 3 parts by the end, if I'm not mistaken. So what combination of Type 3 and Type 1/Early Type 2 parts would be appropriate for my clone? I'm thinking Type 1 style gas block, heavy dust cover, Type 1 recoil spring, Type 3 gas tube, Type 3 bolt carrier/group. Would the fluted piston still have been used at this point or had that already been done away with? I'm also curious if a Polish/Bulgarian/Hungarian Type 3 bolt carrier/group are the same as the Russian ones. Any help or insight from those more knowledgable is greatly appreciated.

There are actually 2 different “Type II” gas blocks. Ill try to post pictures of both. Having trouble getting pictures to load. So there was a total of 4 Different gas blocks used on Type II rifles. The Type I, 2 different Type II and the Type III.
