Russia Tula AKM Rifle. This AKM is highly collectible and unique. Built using an original Russian Tula AKM parts kit & a Childers CG1 receiver. The receiver features awesome Russian selector markings. These AKMs also feature a 16" Polish cold hammer-forged & chrome-lined barrel w/ 14x1LH threads on the muzzle. The furniture is Original Period Correct Russian Wood. Get one in your collection today!

I would be more interested if I could choose a year for these builds the way Sauer Supply offered. Not hot on the mystery box "It's a Tula" approach.

2300$ a bit steep when you get other combloc AKs for that price

These are the rusty old kits that people got mad at being labelled as NOS “excellent” “like new”. Atlantic built them into rifles from parts bins.

One wonders why these parts kits were built up in all the wrong ways.

Why not do a quick and easy turnaround and offer the parts kits as is? Then make more money buy selling build parts, 922r parts etc. No kits would have been harmed in the process.

From what I learned in the other thread, the add should come with a disclaimer.

"Unique Soviet parts missing and not included, US pistol grip and other parts substituted, new paint over correct markings, incorrect receiver used, and more".

I have read previously in this forum that Childers receivers are good. Is this not the case? What would be the ideal legal replacement for a TULA build?
Thanks for the information

Childers receivers are very good. Within the top two stamped receiver vendors in my opinion.

In this case the options on them are wrong for the kit in question. It is not a fault that is related to Childers but rather the builder of these kits.

Childers makes a quality product and has great customer service.

I'm at around ten builds on Childers. I have no complaints.

I am impressed with the specific knowledge of AK history and building on this site.
I'm curious about what you would recommend as a first DYI build for someone like me who has handyman skills, not afraid to try, and loves AKs. My collection is 11 total with no DYI builds. Retiring in 15 months and thinking of building my first.

A nice OG barrel Romy G kit would be an excellent starting kit to build. Wont have to mess with barrel work, and the somewhat crude parts will allow some error for learning mistakes. I started on a Maadi kit and glad I did.

Without a doubt, I will inquire more when I get ready to purchase a kit. Hoping kits keep coming in.
Thanks for responding, really appreciate the experience on this forum. The DYI AK build can be intimidating.
Let's see it please 😃

First, I'm hoping you have a few kits in your stash. If not buy what kits you can now. Worry about the barrels and receivers later.

The golden age of building is mostly gone.

Thanks for the tip, I have been thinking about this and hoping to see some kits for sale soon.
On that line of thought...
I will suggest 2 different sellers for possible kits:
-Atlantic recently (within the last few months anyway) had Romanian pm md63 kits for sale that looked reasonably priced for today's market. I would look & see if they are still available...
-Next, WhatACountry had some milled Polish underfolder kits for sale with a generic barrel included, for about $800. I looked really hard at those.

-luck & success to ya!
