I think it is time we remember why we all like this board and what makes it diffrent from the "other" boards. People here are supportive, helpful, the mods are not assholes, nor heavy handed, but really helpful guys, vendors don't get to run the board and beat down people who report bad work or bad service, people who rip off other people get reported in an open forum for discussion without being banned, (remember JoeKen shit storm on the "other" board?), people who want to share ideas or need help building don't get put down for asking for help, or sharing ideas, people who are "home builder" don't get put down or remarks made about "home builders" rifles being second rate, nor do venders get to look down their noses at "home builders", there is no politics on the board, also where if people who dont think they are not gettting a fair report can openly discuss it like grown men without over reacting, most of all " it's about the KALASHNIKOV,,,NOT the MONEY "

I agree with you all.

I just disassociated myself from even visiting on another "board" this past week. The discussion that finally did it for me involved members trying to squeeze something for nothing, and a vendor {and I'd better just stop right there} and a lot of tough guy horse shit being thrown around.

The dialogue reminded me of some gas station get together , where the most bluster gains the most respect or believeability. And if you make a comment your remarks are blown out of proportion and them jumped on.
I can just imagine some of these guys with hardware in hand having a heated conversation. Not where I'd want to be.

I agree that the AK Forum members and mods are great folks to be around. Folks that you don't mind asking a simple question to without having to worry that they will use you to stroke their ego by trying to make you look completely stupid.

i didn't come here for the build know how, anybody can build an ak. i joined here truth be known to get in on the group buy for the vz receivers. people on other boards seem to love to bash this one so i just never gave it a chance. but since joining i have found a wealth of knowledge on the ak type rifle. i am in aw by some of the members here who can quote you information on whatever part like they worked at izmash there whole lifes. but the best part of this board is the atomsphere, everybody gets along so well. there have been minor arguments here and there but they always get worked out it seems. for the most part this is the most adult oriented(no i don't mean porn sundance),grown up gun site on the web. i don't even spend time on the other boards anymore. i love this place.

I've been tooling around some of the other boards for a few years and just joined this one recently. I haven't been here for long but I have to say, this is a great forum. Mainly because of this place, I have come to recognize just how much I love the many variants of the AK, and hope to one day build my collection to include as many of them as I possibly can! I currently have two, and by the end of the year, with two more build projects completed, will have four. Hopefully by the end of 2009, with plenty of inspiration from this board, I will have more.

Have to say nothing else is as mature and well run-when someone goes off the deep end here it is shut down quickly and not allowed.

It would be one hell of a party to do an all inclusive AKforum Cruise to Mexico or a shoot gathering some where! So many good guys (And Women) on here I would like to meet in person and suck back a few good beers with! I have no friends at all that have the same passion of the AK like my fellow forum members!

Its good to have you Guys, it's Members like you that help make the Board.

A couple key points make this board different than most of the others.

1. We're not in it for the money, the Staff/Owners of the board are AK Guys. We're all pro-active on the board, we all have an "Open Door" policy and we spend alot of time ensuring the quality of this board.

2. We're not in competition with the other boards, The Staff/Owners fund this board out of pocket. We will not ask for, nor will we accept money from our Members or Vendors. Some of the other boards see this as a threat, what we provide to our Members free of charge,..........they charge Membership fee's for. This gives us the ability to run the board the way we want and maintain our standards, this board is not "Just The Internet", we're here to establish a solid Base for AK Collectors, Shooters and Enthusiasts to communicate.
