Status check on final rifle?

Gary,

I haven't been able to get in contact with you by phone or email, so I'm hoping that ya'll check this forum from time to time. I'm trying to get a status check on my AK-74 that I sent to you back in March. When we last spoke in June, you indicated that you were about to send it out, so I'm concerned as to whether or not we have a lost rifle out there.

The rifle in question is S/N AE 31 7953

Has anyone had any contact with Overland recently? No replies here or to email, and now the phone won't work (apparently the message box is full?).

Starting to feel uneasy here......

I am starting to wonder about him too. He has a build of mine he was going to send out soon. That was about a month ago. I have sent him a couple of emails and I left a message on his machine a couple of weeks ago. If I talk to or hear from him I will let you know. Please let me know if you hear from him.

I emailed him/them (two different email addresses) about some builds they might have for sale, and I got a response within about two days, IIRC. That was only about three weeks ago.
I spoke to him this afternoon about doing a build. He's still there.
Okay, that makes me feel a bit better. I know Gary was / is busy, but when all regular contact methods fail simultaneously, one can't help be be concerned.

I guess I'm still a bit cautious and jaded over the whole Gary Gucciano thing in Kansas years ago. What a mess that turned out to be!

Glad to hear he is fine. From what I have read we have been keeping him busy. Might be time to take a vacation, after all of our kits are done of course. I wonder if he has heard about the AK74 kits that are suppose to be here in Sept? That has got to be some good news for builders too.
I think he's just got a lot of irons in the fire right now. Got my Romy G build back on July 10th from Gary and couldn't be happier. Turn around time was about 6 weeks. He told me he is working 90 hour weeks to get caught up.
Rest assured I am still here and busy working on all of your great looking kits. I was working 90 hour weeks for 5 weeks to catch up and felt very bad when I made a commitment and then ran into obstacles and other problems which caused me to miss the date. I wanted to get caught up to the point so when I made the commitment I knew at least I could just work all night long and ship it the next day if it started to slip.

Then something unexpected happened, my middle son, an seasoned Apache pilot came back from Iraq to his home in Kansas in his mid tour R&R three weeks ago, we spoke on the phone as soon as his boots were on the ground. I felt a great deal of relief knowing he was on U.S. soil and went back to my 90 hour weeks. A week later unknown to me (except everyone else) there was a knock on the door and when I opened it there he was, his wife and three of my grandchildren with a "Surprise", now only with boots on the ground in Lake Havasu City Arizona.
Not really knowing how much I was worried about his deployment, I completely lost it for a short while until he merely said "let's get the deckboat wet" (seems that one of the things he focused on while in Iraq (in addtion to his wife and kids) was the water on the lake and just floating around.

The only priority I had at this time was the family and dropped everything for about two weeks. I still answered the phone, retured calls and emails however, may have missed some and appologize to my customers for that.
He left for Kansas last Friday and I took the weekend off for a couple of "Mental Health" days. He has now departed Kansas and is in the air somewhere over that Atlantic as I write this on his way back to Iraq.

I have returned back to working on all of the beautiful kits and will be shipping the great looking Krinks and Bulgarians in the next several days to our understanding customers, many identified on this thread.

As for our valued customers, Overland will continue our practice of when we are delayed on a delivery, ship "goodies" with their rifle as a form of our appreciation for your business along with our appology.

P.S. If you see fit, feel free to say a small prayer for my son and all of the other sons, daughters, men, women, and all of the other Americans out there protecting of freedoms, and may "God Bless America".

I do so daily in general, and if you feel comfortable sharing his first name I'd be happy to lift his name up specifically. All of my personal friends have rotated back for the time being, but while they were over I made that a daily practice, and would be happy to continue that routine.

In light of your last post, I feel like a bit of a schmuck but we are a product of our past experiences and like I said before the whole Kansas episode --- though long past --- is still fresh in my memory and will most likely influence me forever. Suffice to say that it was good to hear from you in this post, and even better to hear that you got some much needed time with your son and the grandkids.

Thanks for your son's service! :salute:

Glad to hear you got to see your kids. I know you are working your butt off so I understand if you fall behind. I will keep waiting as patiently as I can. Let me know when you can ship. My deal on the muzzle nut fell threw so if you have one of those or you are placing a order with k-var I would be happy to get that.
Gary, glad to hear your son is doing great. The most important thing in life is family. You have one of my kits (birthday guy with red bakelite mag). Please take care of your family first. I personally have no problems waiting.

Thanks
Matthew
Gary,

Give me a shout before you ship because my address has changed (which was the reason I've been trying to get in touch with you).

Thanks,
Saleen
