Here's a portion of a receiver from the scrap piles. It's basically useless, but the rear section did give me some info for the MPi database (I had to have the guy cut it, to send it to me)....flat mag release lever in 69. :). As for the grey finish, it must have been refurbed as the finish is over pitting.

Ouch, why was the trunnion FUBARed?
Thats how they demilled the old AK's after the wall came down. From what I've seen (and heard), they cut them through the trunion and infront of or on the gasblock.

Ive seen many receivers cut like this for sale in Germany. They arent that expensive either..maybe $20-$50. The rest of it is fine, but the front trunions are all cut like that. Damn shame.

Is that an EG RPK receiver?

Warbaby has it right. The East Germans never made RPK's and used Russian provided ones for NVA service.
Reichpapers,
Were you able to obtain an intact MPi-KM rear trunnion & trigger guard from the "scrap pile" along with that FUBAR'd front trunnion? If so, please divulge your source !

What do they go for? I have people in Germany who can get these. Ill see if they will cut them up and send the parts, as long as its worth having them do it.
My source is a bit shady. I originally found him on egun.de last year. He had the receivers (uncut) available on the auction for 10 euros a piece. So I ordered 3 and some small parts. The stuff never arrived. According to egun.de staff, the guy was sent to prison (for what I don’t know). Last month I get an email from him (after 7 months) asking if I still want parts. After getting the shaft from him earlier, I was still a bit pissed and skeptical, but I really needed a rear trunion and trigger guard. I decided to order one from him. His prices went up. For him to send it cut, he was charging 30 euros shipped now. I told him to cut the receiver through the magwell and not to send the front section. Needless to say, he sent both pieces. I didn’t show a pic of the rear, as I was unsure if the cut was legal, considering I had the front section too. Naturally, I destroyed the rear portion and removed the parts I needed since. I plan to order one more from him so I have another set to build off of. I can ask him if he is willing to deal with others….of course I want to get my order in first just incase he raises his prices due to interest in the receivers.
