I'm looking to do an SBR on a budget. Seems like I have two options ... SBR one of my AR lowers ... or build an AK (I have a couple of Romy kits on hand).

I like the very short OAL of an AK with a folding stock. How much work / cost would be involved in shortening one of these Romy barrels? Is it worth the effort on a Romy?

Thanks,

Victor

yeah , it's a bit of work . check out some of the AK pistol build threads . If you're not real comfortable pulling the barrel , cutting , crowning , re-threading , all that good stuff [or paying to have it done] , you might do better with a AR lower . Plug and play upper's and whatnot . .223's not as effective out of a short assed barrel as x39 and is loud as hell but it makes a fun toy .

The cheapest route would be to purchase a new barrel, gas tube, and handguards for one of your AR's.
Then just change the barrel
