It intrigues me to research the history of Chile's coup.
The way a popularly elected government was taken down (with help from "outsiders"- would this make me an insider-, to say the least) and the people suppressed in such a fascistic way such as happened in Chile never ceases to amaze me.

Ironic how it all went down on that all too well known date, September 11.

Anyways, as for the tool used in Allendes suicide/murder (pick your flavour),
any one here have any other scoop on what may have become of his rifle?
Any info on what country of origin/type it may have been.
Judging by the pics Ive seen of Mr. Allende, RIP, holding his AK given to him by Castro, it looks to be an underfolder type.

Former president Allende?s family petitioning return of the AK47, a gift from Fidel Castro ? MercoPress

Gotta give it to the man, regardless of whether you approve of his politics or not, he didnt go out without a fight!
Albeit a losing battle, he held his until the end.

My dad got a AKMS made in 1972 with the pistol grip made of wood, 4 bakalite magazines, one bayonet and a drop case, did I say was a gift from Fidel Castro Ruz.
So maybe Allende gun was from the same lot...
