Am I correct that the only thing that has to be done to make the Saiga rifle take AK mags is file down the mag catch a little bit? There are no other issues with feeding?
Also, from what I understand if you do this conversion, then you also have to add a few new US parts to the Saiga to make it compliant. Is that right, or does the US parts thing only apply if an evil pistol grip is added?
You will need to install a feed ramp on the rear portion of the trunnion.
You can buy one from Kvar or build one from a piece of steel pipe .
Fitting it and drill and tap the a hole in the rear of the trunnion just behind the barrel. Its not too harf to do but you have to be careful that the bolt will close properly. It may close without a round in the chamber, but might be different whe you have a round in it.
I ran into that problem when i did my .223 conversion.
