Why the short gas tube? I was looking a SA 85M like that and I noticed that the piston is short too. Why did the Hungarians make them like that? Did it have something to do with the amd-65?

My guess is that they were dumping excess spares into those rifles since we would buy anything at that time.

So, maybe they had spare amd-65 parts to use. The short piston in some SA 85Ms are the same as those used in the amd-65?
