does anyone know what kind of paint finish that would match or come close to a romy g?i have a unfired kit and i just want to refinish the receiver to try to match the rest of the kit.

From what I've been told it's parkerized finish and a epoxy based paint. Even though it's a later year I'm bluing mine.

The romanians use a black oxide finish.
There is no paint on the rifle.

Black oxide over parkerizing seems to be the best match.

When testing this method of finishing I allowed j_tudeski to use rusty Romy PSL mags as test subjects. The only way I can tell them from my factory finish PSL mags is the minor pitting and the fact that the engraved numbers on the refinished mags is now black. To my eyes black oxide over park is the proper Romy finish.

You not going to get a spray paint to match a non painted finish very well.

I use Brownell's Alumihyde II in black semi gloss. It comes in a spray can and while it does not provide a "correct" finish it does look very good in my opinion. It is also VERY stong if applied correctly. Patience is the key when working with it. Do not use to much and let it hang for AT LEAST a week after spraying it.
