So I have an unconverted MAK-90 Sporter (thumbhole stock) with a milled receiver. Am planning on re-fanging it. Has anyone here replaced the FCS with a 3rd party replacement trigger? If so, what did you use?

I was planning on using an ALG Enhanced set (have them on a coupe of Romanian’s, great triggers), but I contacted ALG and they didn’t think it would work with the Chinese MAK-90 Sporter version.

Any assistance appreciated.

When you say FCS do you mean "forward charging system"? or "Fire Control System" like some pre-assembled trigger packs?
or do you actually mean the FCG (fire control group)?
(trigger, disconnector, hammer & springs)

Factory Chinese blued, double hook FCG being one of the strongest, smoothest, nicest mil-grade units made on any AK is truly hard to top.

If you are referencing an aftermarket drop a in "trigger pack" (as the "FCS"), then any that fit a standard euro pattern AK will also fit chinese variants, like your Mak90.

If you are looking to simply upgrade for 922r reasons, or the original chinese FCG is missing or is missing some components, the old Tapco G2 sets are a good alternative.

Yoda, FCG & upgrade for 922r reasons.

Jdg, yes it’s a great trigger, but 922r is the reason.

Countable parts on a milled AK variant = 14. And that includes a muzzle device. If your barrel isn't threaded and with many Chinese rifles, they weren't, you only have 13 imported parts that you "need" to get down to 10. Replace the stock set with a USA one, and part of the magazine if your muzzle is threaded, or a USA made muzzle device and you don't have to mess with arguable the best trigger group of any factory AK variant imported into the land of shall not be infringed.

922r is a crock. Sort of like that tag on your Mattress that states under penalty of law if you remove it you will go to jail. I get the fact when you purchase an AK it's 922r compliant. However, the AK Folks out there who ditched the 922r parts for the real deal is unfathomable. I have not seen one ATF case of a buyer getting prosecuted for replacing their 922r parts with Original parts. Just my take :p
