I'm trying to work out the best approach for my Yugo M76 build. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best approach to riveting the pistol grip nut and the turning guide? I know that Robert Forbus offers some tools for this, and I assume that they would work with a benchtop hydraulic press. What are my other options here? I was trying to see if the Toth Tool long rivet tool had enough clearance to work for the grip nut, but I don't think it does.

Get the Forbus block. It’s the shit. Before, I used to mount a dimpled bar in a vice, and then peen the rivet with another dimpled bar, all while trying to balance the receiver with a third hand. Get the Forbus block…it’ll work with a hammer and dimpled punch if you don’t have a press.

Same for the turning guide. Get the Forbus tool.

Get all the Forbus tools. He’s not getting any younger and they hold their value.

Thanks for the advice. Where did you get the dimpled punch?

It’s been a long time, but I just made a bucking bar by drilling a dimple with a 9/32” ball end mill into a piece of scrap steel bar.

If you have a long rivet jig, you can use the cupped forming rod too, but it’s pretty small and clumsy to hammer on.

Get the Forbus tool. You can sell it at a small loss after you’re done. Someone may pay you retail if it’s out of stock. Trust me, it makes pg lugs a breeze. Same for lower tangs.
