Recoil spring color

Anybody know what color the recoil spring on a 1971 Mpi-KM should be? The spring I have right now looks like it was blued....pretty much a matt black. First one I've seen, I'm used to shiney or anodised looking.

Here is a pic of a fresh new out of the wrap East German recoil spring. Spring is somewhat of a bronze or golden color.
