I'm considering the purchase of a Norinco .223. It's in excellent ++ condition and a great price.

Do these rifles use proprietary mags only? If not, what type of mags will this particular weapon accept?

They do use a unique mag and they generally sell for approx $30.00. You can also use the 5.56 Bulgarian waffles(sometimes requires very minor fitting).

Go get that rifle! Norinco mags run about $30 for a 30-rounder, $25 for a 20-rounder, $20 for a 15-rounder, and about $10 for a 5-rounder. They are pretty widely available.

My Norinco 84s will also use Bulgy 5.56 mags although they are really tight front-to-back.

AK in 5.56 is a match made in heaven and I'm always on the lookout for one. Really accurate, super sweet fcg, Chinese reliable, no recoil, and it is nice to be able to pick up AK ammo at Walmart!

If you pick up the rifle and are in dire need of a mag, I'll mail you a loaner until you get stocked up.
