On the ejection side of the receiver is the letters MISR followed by the cal. and Made by Maddi Egypt, imported by CAI

What does the MISR stand for?

Also, knowing nothing about Egyptian rifles, what is their quality?

Thanks for any and all info

"Misr" is just the translation of how the Egyptians call "Egypt".

Quality can be great to horrible. Rifles they built for military contract seem to have a higher quality. Rifles built for commercial export have ranged from excellent to horrible. The early importer Styer of NJ seem to hold Maadi to a higher quality standard not seen on later imports.

I might be wrong, but I think some of the MISRs were Chinese parts on an Egyptian receiver.

That would be the MISR90. Not all MISRs were Chinese/Egyptian hybrids.
