I came across this strange East German Sling. It is as wide as a standard Soviet Sling and is made from the older style , 1960's type, East German Webbing material. Is it perhaps an East German made sling for Soviet made weapons? East German RPK sling?

Hmm, this could be an excuse to build an East German RPK now...
Actual designation "lMG-K" = leichtes Maschinegewehr - Kalashnikov

The East Germans did not make their own RPKs until around the time the wall came down and if I remember it correctly very few if any were ever produced.
They relied on the Russians for everything for the RPK with the possible exception of some Romanian buttstocks as replacement parts?

That sort of sling is some kind of early model that hasn't survived in great nombers.

I bought a "gunsmith special" Albanian SKS from AIM years ago and it had a clip from one of those slings still attached to it.

I just sold one of those in the marketplace not long ago for dirt cheap... couldn't give it away.
