i have a 91/30 and laminated m44 i tried to refinish with amber shellac.but the heat of my trunk on the way to the range monday, made the finish bubble up.i'm going to use some rubbing alcohol and 000 steel wool to get the shellac off.what would be a better finish to put on that will stand up?any info and how to apply would be great!

An easy finish that no one hardly uses is Deft. I've used it on stocks for over 30 years and it really holds up well, dries very quickly, and gives it that oil finish look.

Home Depot or such store. I got my last can from WalMart. I used Satin Finish on the Mosin. That's maybe 3 coats and maybe 30 minutes worth of time. I reassembled that after an hour dry time. Great stuff.
