Took a tour of the military museum in Toledo Spain and they had this on display from the civil war. It was described as an improvised weapon that lacked a front sight. The display did not lend it self very well to pictures and for some reason my spanish was not good enough to convince them to take it out of the display case.

That's interesting, wonder what they used for blanks.
Not sure when blanks came into being. This thumper was made in the late 30's, perhaps they were available. They had some other cool stuff at the museum.

Cool pics. I have been there a long time ago.
I bought a sword there but it was stolen by the movers when I rotated back to the states.

I flew a mission to Spain back in the 80's They made us change into civilian clothes to protect our identity and then drove us to Madrid in a big blue Airforce bus. Not sure who we were fooling.
