I saw somewhere on the internet where someone modified a bunch of mags to fit the Valmet 76, one of which was a Bulgy .223 mag. Does anyone know where I can find this, since I can't find any more mags elsewhere, unless anyones knows of a source for the Tromix converted mags.
I looked on valmet weapons, but did see the exact article I has seen earlier.

Tony Rumore of Tromix used to do it....I don't know if he still does but he may be able to tell you how to modify the Bulgarian waffle magazines.

I have converted Wieger and Bulgy waffle mags for my M71/S and they work great. I traded for a new Tromix waffle mag and used it as a guide.

You use a file to remove metal from the front and rear locking lugs on the mag.

I personally have modified 2 Bulgarian 5 round waffles, and 4 Yugo metal 30 round magazines. All operate as well as the original. I use an air powered die grinder with a cut-off disc as a grinder. I suppose a Dremmel would work also. You need to have an original mag as a guide to match the front latching hook. Just take your time and keep fitting them as you go. When working on the rear catch, I removed material from above the hook. Be careful not to remove too much though, that is what affects the feed angle. I messed with the front feed lips on 1 Yugo, but did nothing on the other 3, they all run well. Here are some pics of the Yugo mag. Pretty it isn't, but it runs flawlessly. The Bulgarians modify in the same way, and may be easier as they are mostly plastic where they need trimming. I have not attempted any of the clear mags.
The front modification

Valmet mag, Yugo original, Yugo modified.

Rear modifications, Valmet original on the left.

Very helpful post, thanks. I just used it to convert a smoke bulgy 30 rdr to fit my new Valmet 76 just for the heck of it. Although I did have to revove a little from the rr locking tab it was as you describe otherwise.

I don't know about the yugo conversion but bulgarian has to be also trimmed on the inside of the feedlips (to make proper feeding angle)

How about Weigars and 5.45 bakelites?

Is´t possible to make them work?

I have been told that Galil mags feed into barrelramp, ie. pushing bullet into case etc. any way to modify them or change feed ramp in rifle?

Good choice, "Tromix" did em. You have to know what you are doing, better buy one converted by Tony R and copy his work. Feed angle is important if you care about safety of the shooter.
