It might be a safer idea to consult an attorney who defends gun-related cases. He cannot "tell on you".
The LEOs, on the other hand will arrest you on the spot.
indeed. In my opinion, the proper authorities are people “well versed in the letter of the law.” While I suppose that could include law enforcement, i definitely wouldn’t start that conversation with “is my XXXXX legal?”

Your gun is not registered with the Feds. Federal government is not suppose to have a gun registry.

To find out about a gun law you do not need to hire a lawyer. Do what FFL dealers do and call the state attorney general. They are suppose to know the laws. But when I had a FFL, one state AG that I called transferred me to the state police for an answer on if a gun was legal in that state. If I remember correctly, that state was New York regarding an AK that I sold to a resident there.

Don’t ask for legal advise on the internet.
