Nice .50.

I have a .50 is TiGold and a .44 in Triple Chrome.

I can put up a picture tutorial on how to change over to a houge grip, if youre interested.

Thanks gents. This thing is a BEAST. Absolutely love it. I'm not sure about changing to the hogue grips .... yet. I haven't thought that far ahead. Simple process, eh?

Very nice.

Except for the little black square on the serial number, that looks kinda nasty.

:)

I want to find someone with a DE in 50 so I can dual wield both of them (mine and theirs).

The Hogue will make the pistol 200x more managable. (Ok, I exaggerate...but not much)

basically,.. you take the old grip off,. put the new one on,.. then tighten the screw.....

HOWEVER,....

getting the stock grip off can be,.. umm,.. lets say it is a test of patience and reasoning,. but really you will not belive how simple the stock grip is until you get it off of the gun,...... then you will just feel like a retard.(been there done that myself)

it does make the grip slightly larger,.. but it gives your hand more real estate to hang on to durring the guns recoil. keep dremel handy,.. sometimes the grips cover the SN a bit (i always make sure mine are clearly visiable) and the little nub/hook things inside MAY need to be trimmed down a bit for the magazine to eject the way it did before with the stock grips.

they are well worth the money.

well if you and your "Fiddy" are ever on my side of the country you can try it with mine,.. just dont scratch it with your ugly duckling gun

double fisting the D.E. really is not that hard,....at least until you get to the 5 or 6th round in each gun.

Very nice Exotic Toys, glad to see you got one! Changing over to the Houge grips makes it MUCH more pleasant to shoot, especially in 50. You will not regret it.

"fun gun" ----YES
"practical in any way" ---NO

Either way, limpwristing any pistol will cause it to fail. There is a certain amount of resistance that is calculated into the recoil equation for it to cycle reliably.

Glock's.... well, that calculation is seriously below the average shooters ability.

Sig's... The recoil dynamics are simply beauty in motion, watch one being fired and you will see... the person firing doesn't really know it's gone off before the recycle is in motion.

CZ's... the slide weight is paramount to it's ease of handling. Up front after the projectile has left the barrel, and hard on the return long before you'd need a follow up.

HK'S... heavy springs (double-capture sometimes) to mitigate recoil (which does nothing for actual recoil) but does a lot for percieved recoil. Light slide weight to facilitate faster lockup with heavy springs.

1911's... much faster than you can ever pull the trigger with your main hand, so what's the point of changing designes..... (jk)... (sort of hehehehe)

Either way, I can tell you that shooting a pistol from .25ACP to .50DE is the same.... shoot it until you get it, and shoot it until it gets how you shoot it. It's a serious relationship, treat it that way.

More to come!!!

Very rare to encounter a DE lemon. Awesome guns.I would get one in .44mag.

you know, would have had one at Wanenmacher's back in 06, But my bank FUBAR'rd my credit Card

Some pics of my DE's . . .

Hopefully these come through. Not great quality pics - sorry. Anyway, the scoped one is a .44, as is one of the other 6" guns. The Mag-na-ported 6" is a .50 AE.

I do reccomend the porting on the .50, along with the one-piece Hogue finger groove grips. These 2 features keep muzzle rise, and muzzle "torque" down, which reduces the likelihood of getting "brass-faced", which is common with the .50's in factory form.

All 3 guns have the Hogue finger groove grips (better than the 2 piece Hogues, imho), and adjustable Millett sights. Finally, I shipped them all to Robar for their complete NP3 finish, inside and out. I love this finish. Super tough, and very corrosion-resistant. The factory black oxide finish looks good, but will rust fairly easily.

You might gather that I love these damn guns, and you'd be right. They can be a little high-maintenance, though. 2 of my 3 had to go back to Mag Research for tweaking before they were 100% reliable. Now, they're perfect . . . and more fun than most guns I've ever shot!

Obviously, there's a cost and frustration factor involved in having to send a brand new gun back before it'll work like it should. It may not be worth it to some; but to me it is. These things are unique - there really is nothing else like 'em.

Also, contrary to what some say, they can be hunted with, and easily carried in a bandolier style holster. They're a blast at the range. And they are VERY accurate. By and large, they'll outshoot the best of large-caliber revolvers every time. Both of my DE .44's are more accurate than any .44 mag revolver I own (over a dozen), except for one.

I say, go for it . . . but know that some patience and TLC may be required. Kinda like a smokin' hot woman. Some don't want to mess with 'em; but others figure the investment will pay off over time.

There we go . . .

In a tense situation if your DE jams just hurl it at the BG.
If you hit him he will be knocked smooth out by that 4 1/2 pound chunk of metal....
