I would like to know some of this stuff as well I have gaps in my kits and it seems the closed fsb came about in the 70's No idea on wood as I have seen 59 kits with bakelite and a 78 kit with wood I have seen several different rear sight leafs. Three different fsb. I would also like to know what year they switched to the lame trigger guard.

Does anybody know what year they changed the open ear front sight to the closed circle type front sight? I've also noticed slight differences in the way the certain aspects of the front sight is milled, and a slight difference in how they allow the rear sight to be removed (hole vs slot/notch). Wood furniture vs bakelite? When did they stop using wood?
