Kvar drop in AKS74 style stocks

They work well, I have one for my Tantal (don't like the wire stock). The length of pull ends up being more like a Nato style AK stock than the warsaw length one.

the locking latch works just like the reciever mounted ones, but it rides on the stock. You can see it in the photo on the Kvar site - just forward and slightly lower than the oblong D shaped feature, which is the backside of the main release latch.

the only drawback is that they are fairly heavy - lots of steel.

Pardon my ignorance, but I assume that won't fit on an AK 47, only the 74's?

I would sure like to get something like that for my Romy G, which is currently wearing black poly furniture.

yes it will fit either AK47 or AK74 as it uses the standard mounting location and set up

I bought one of these and installed it. I like it. The extra weight does not bother me. I am no expert, but it seems to me that it is very practical. It makes it easier if I ever had to carry the AK in a duffle to avoid attention or to travel in a car.
