Krinkov Handgard Question (w/pic)

1043 Views 11 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  scottMO
I picked up another set of Krink handgards and the lower HG is a little different and appears to be modified. The darker HG's on the right are stock and came w/my demilled kit. The lighter HG set on the left has part of the wood cut away on the lower part of the HG. Will this affect the fit or do i need to try and send these back?? If this area doesnt affect anything, why would someone have done this modification??

I would send them back looks cracked to me..
Someone fitted the lower to a Chinese rifle.

You can add some wood to make up the difference and restore the size of the tang fairly easily.
Z_recto is right.

You should contact him. He is a master at fixing, repairing and staining AK-wood. Everyone on the forum knows how good of a job this guy does...he can help you out.
I saw a krinkov on a polytech receiver at a gun show in my area. it was sweet man, deked out with a third selector hole and everything

it was being sold for $19,000  , but i have never seen one like it anywhere.
I'm just a little peeved as these were sold to me as "new" and they've obviously had some wood removed.

Personally, I'd send them back simply due to the principal of the matter. There's no reason you should have to fix something that's "new".
Well, i returned the handgards. I lost 22.00 total w/shipping both ways and the sellers gunbrokers fees. At the time, was happy to get any $ back. I posted an "F" for him and now in retaliation, he says I am the one who modified them. The funny thing is that he relisted them, stated they were still new, but sold them as is so he can dump them on the next guy. the new auction recently closed so the new buyer prob hasnt rec'd them or figured it out yet. I've had some great transactions online but I learned alot from this one...

If you care to read it abt this all from start to finish, start at the bottom and read up. Click on the feedback on me and him and read the comments. If you notice the times of the posts here w/ UNEDITED Posts vs. the emails to the seller. I truely had no idea what was different abt them until I asked abt them here. All i had tho compare them to was the other HG's from my recently purchased Demilled "KIT". I dont even have a completed rifle yet.

Here's the orig auction: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=102855854

Here's his relisted ad. Notice the "factory new", but also "sold as is":

I can't get over the fact that this guy scammed a pic from K-VAR showing brand new blond Krink Hg..by the way I had noticed that auction and thought to myself it has been a long time since we have seen some blond bulgy krink HG for sale, K-VAR has been out of stock for years now. I expected for it to run high because of the rariety of these blond Hg.

Seller is a scammer and didn't even state he had fitted them to a rifle already.

Well scottMO..I'm glad to hear you got some money back, wish you could have got it all back. I can only hope for Karma. Glad you posted this so other members here know what to expect.
Yeah, I was just a little peeved at his retaliation. I have feedback on gunbroker that dates back to mar of 2002. He's sold alot more than me, but has only been on GB for less that 4 months, and I'm the bad guy....

The blond sets are out there as I located one in May for another demilled kit. It wasnt easy to find and that's why I didnt mind paying for the gunbroker set since it was sold as "new from KVAR". I wanted the 2nd blond set for my 2nd build(not even started yet).

the set I found in may/2008:
